I have been analysing election data more or less as a hobby for nearly 40 years although until recently my election analysies were almost exclusively restricted to US elections. A few weeks ago while surfing the internet I came upon the Australian Election Commission website and for the first time came into contact with the preferential voting system. I quickly realized how this voting system couples the stability of the first-past-the-post system with the inclusiveness of a proportional election system and, having caught the bug, am now working to develop a district-my-district forecasting model for the upcoming election scheduled for September of this year.
In my real life I am a consultant living in Tokyo, Japan. My wife and two children live in a modest mid-rise apartment in the eastern Tokyo ward of Koto. I have lived in Japan for nearly 21 years and have had a rewarding life consulting in the Japanese real estate market.
